The dual-station special-purpose welding machine for compressor base brackets relies on tooling positioning to complete automatic welding. Problems such as offset workpiece placement, failure to fit tightly against the datum, and floating or unsupported placement easily cause welding defects and also damage tooling and equipment.
I Welding Quality Hidden Dangers
1.The weld spot shifts, the effective fusion area is insufficient, cold joints appear, and weld-spot strength is inadequate.
2.The workpiece fitting gap is too large, spatter increases during welding, non-fusion and burn-through easily occur, and cracks appear in the sheet.
3.Weld-spot quality fluctuates greatly within the same batch: some spots are firm while others have insufficient strength, and miswelding and missed welding also occur.
II Product Assembly and Use Hidden Dangers
1.The workpiece twists and deforms after welding, flatness deteriorates, internal stress arises after assembly, and abnormal noise appears during equipment operation.
2.The weld-spot force-bearing position is abnormal, and the weld spot easily cracks and fails under long-term vibration conditions.
III Tooling and Equipment Safety Hidden Dangers
1.The workpiece is placed skewed and protrudes beyond the tooling, causing collision during station switching and electrode damage.
2.The workpiece is not seated properly; during pressurization, the positioning pins and limit blocks bear lateral forces and deform, and the tooling positioning datum fails.
3.The workpiece interferes and jams when the station rotates, causing equipment shutdown.
4.The tooling electrode is under eccentric load, wear accelerates, and component service life shortens.
IV Common Triggers of Improper Workpiece Placement
1.The operator does not confirm that the workpiece fits tightly against the datum surface during loading
2.Tooling positioning pins and blocks are worn, or welding slag and iron chips accumulate on the surface
3.The incoming workpiece itself has deformation and burrs and cannot fit against the tooling datum
