Welding Consumables
Regarding resistance welding, the general consumables are electrodes and graphite blocks.
An electrode in welding is a piece of metal attached to the welding machine that creates a current. The electric current is introduced into the workpieces by energizing the electrodes. This current flows through the workpieces, encountering resistance at the interface where they meet.
Resistance spot welding electrodes are generally made of copper and copper-based alloys. The shape and size of electrodes depend on the metal contact area, thickness, composition, etc.
Graphite blocks are used for diffusion welder as electrodes.
