After Welding of the Car Seat Rail on the Twin-Head Projection Welding Machine, Sliding Stagnation Occurs. Besides Workpiece Deformation, What Other Welding Factors Are There?

Oct 26,2026

After welding of the car seat rail on the twin-head projection welding machine, sliding stagnation occurs. Apart from macro deformation of the workpiece, there are also several welding-related factors causing poor rail sliding.

I Abnormal Weld-Spot Forming, Causing Movement-Gap Interference

1.Welding pressure or heat is on the high side, the weld-spot nugget protrudes, and indentations are too deep.

2.The melting degree of projections is inconsistent, and the weld spots at the two ends are uneven in height.

3.The weld-spot position shifts, and the nugget intrudes into the slide-rail area.

II Spatter and Welding-Slag Foreign Matter Remain in the Slide Rail

1.Welding produces metal spatter particles, causing stagnation and abnormal noise during sliding.

2.The twin-head welding is not synchronized, one side has more spatter, residue easily falls into the rail inner cavity, is hard to clean, and continuously causes sliding blockage.

3.Burrs and zinc slag remain at the weld-spot edge, debris detaches after friction, gets stuck in the slide-rail gap, and causes intermittent stagnation.

III Surface Defects Caused by Poor Electrode Condition

1.The electrode end face is worn, with grooves or adhered welding slag; after welding, irregular indentations and protrusions form on the rail surface, destroying the flatness of the slide surface.

2.The upper and lower electrodes have centering offset, the projection bears asymmetric force, and molten metal is squeezed toward the slide-rail side.

3.The electrode heights of the twin-head stations are inconsistent, the weld-spot forming at the two ends differs greatly, causing uneven mating gaps on both sides of the rail.

IV Local Residual Stress Caused by Welding Heat Input

1.The twin-head welding timing is not synchronized, the two ends of the rail are heated inconsistently, producing asymmetric residual stress.

2.Excessive welding heat input generates internal stress in the base material around the weld; no obvious deformation is visible to the naked eye, but it changes the slide-rail mating state, causing blockage during sliding.

3.Excessive cooling speed causes uneven contraction of the slide-rail gap.

V Tooling Positioning Problems

1.Tooling positioning blocks and pins are worn, and the workpiece weld-spot position shifts during welding.

2.The twin-head stations pressurize not synchronously, and the rail bears asymmetric squeezing force.

3.Welding slag accumulates on the tooling positioning surface, the workpiece is placed tilted, and the datum shifts after welding.
