On the Silver-Contact Automatic Welding Machine, What Effects Does Improper Silver-Contact Welding Time Have?

Silver-contact welding on the silver-contact automatic welding machine relies on heat to fuse the contact and base material together. The welding energization time is a key process parameter. If the duration is set inappropriately, various welding defects are produced.

I Adverse Effects of Too-Short Welding Time

1.Insufficient heat supply, incomplete nugget forming, cold joints easily appear, the weld-spot pulling force is insufficient, and the contact easily falls off under vibration.

2.Poor interface fusion continuity, large contact resistance, and the contact easily heats up during operation.

3.The nugget is small and the impact resistance is weak. During frequent on-off vibration, the weld spot easily cracks and fails.

II Adverse Effects of Too-Long Welding Time

1.Heat continuously accumulates, the silver contact over-melts, silver material flows and overflows, the contact shape deforms, and the thickness becomes thinner.

2.The contact oxidizes and blackens at high temperature, easily burning and arcing during use, shortening service life.

3.Heat spreads to the base material, the base material softens and deforms under heating, and the contact position tilts and shifts.

4.Silver slag spatter easily occurs, with a leakage and short-circuit risk.

5.The electrode is at high temperature for a long time, wear and slag adhesion become faster, and stability becomes poor.

III Concomitant Problems Caused by Unreasonable Timing Coordination

1.The welding time is unbalanced with current and pressure, and the nugget size is unstable.

2.The holding time is set inappropriately, the pressure is released early before cooling, pores easily form inside the weld spot, and strength decreases.

3.The heat and pressurization rhythm is misaligned, and over-burning easily occurs.
