How to maintain the electrode of intermediate frequency welder? [DCS21]
Jan 05,2024
The electrode is an important part of intermediate frequency welder, which is directly related to welding quality. How to maintain the electrodes?
No grease, small oxide debris, etc. are allowed in the electrode tip or electrode cap of intermediate frequency welding machine. There must be no serious oxidation, otherwise it will increase the contact resistance of the welding circuit, causing local overheating that should not be present.
Establish the electrode timing maintenance regulation, strictly follow the provisions of the process documents of trimming the electrode style and specifications. This way you can reasonably control the quality of the electrode and reduce processing costs.
For example, the number of solder joints on each workpiece, or the number of workpieces, and the number of solder joints with serious deformation or adhesion of the electrodes should be stipulated according to the required process, when the electrodes can be lightly trimmed on the machine, or when the electrodes shall be removed for trimming or replacement.
Light trimming refers to cleaning electrode working surface or trimming electrode style
and specification between 2 major trimming actions. Usually it is used to avoid electrode adhesion or weld parts area with high precision provisions.
To be specific, for a flat electrode, a thin piece of flat rubber is wrapped with a fine sandpaper and placed between the upper and lower electrodes. After the electrodes are lightly pressurized, a thin layer of metal oxide is removed from the head plane of the electrode. After the plane electrode is repaired, the plane can not be inclined to destroy the parallelism.
On the spherical electrode, wrap 15-20 mm thick hard rubber plate with fine sand paper next trim or repair electrode as the way above.
When trimming the electrode shape with a fine-toothed file you should be careful, not to file off the electrode metal too much in case that the electrode lose the original profile. Otherwise the quality of the welding may get poor.
Do not use coarse file. A better way to restore the original pattern of the electrodes is to remove them from the welding equipment and deliver them to the lathe.
It is also ok to choose a special electrode shaper for trimming electrode.
Special tools shall be used for disassembly and assembly of electrodes. The method of disassembling the electrode by striking the electrode from the side with a metal hammer
or rod will not only damage the contact surface between the electrode and the grip rod, but also bend the electrode and reduce its service life.
For electrodes with wrench surface, special wrench should be used when removing electrodes. For electrodes without wrench surface, it is available to use the pipe clamp at the corresponding size. Cap electrode must be removed with a special tool.
